Title: 橄欖樹葉萃取物對抗氧化能力及抗動脈粥狀硬化之影響

Abstract: 流行病學研究顯示,地中海式飲食可降低心血管疾病和癌症發生率,如乳癌、大腸癌。這與地中海式飲食中含有較多的橄欖油及高比例的抗氧化物有關,例如多酚類。橄欖苦素(Oleuropein)是橄欖樹葉萃取物中具多重作用的酚類。在橄欖樹葉萃取物對2,2' -azinobis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid diamonium salt (ABTS.+)陽離子自由基清除能力研究中發現,橄欖樹葉萃取物的抗氧化能力比維生素C和E高。另外,利用高血壓大鼠注射橄欖樹葉萃取物六週後,發現橄欖樹葉萃取物可預防高血壓和動脈粥狀硬化的發生。體內試驗方面,給予二十四隻八至十週齡雌兔(每組八隻)三種不同的飲食,結果顯示橄欖苦素可有效降低兔子血漿總膽固醇15%、游離膽固醇12%和膽固醇酯17%。綜合以上所述,橄欖樹葉萃取物中的酚類一橄欖苦素是有效抗氧化物,具預防動脈粥狀硬化之作用。
Epidemiological studies showed that Mediterranean diet reduced the incidence rate of coronary head disease and certain types of cancers, for example breast and colon cancer. This might due to the high proportion of olive oil and antioxidants in the diet, such as polyphenols. Oleuropein was identified as one of the abundant phenolic compounds in olive leaf extract, which had multiple effects. The antioxidant capacity was measured by scavenging the ABTS.+radical cation. Results indicated that the antioxidant activity of olive leaf extract was higher than vitamin C and vitamin E. Another study showed the hypertension rats were treated with olive leaf extract in a dose 60 mg/kg b. w., intraperitoneally (i.p.) for 6 consecutive weeks. Results showed that all these olive leaf extract prevented the development of hypertension and atherosclerosis of the experimental animals. Finally, oleuropein reduced the plasmatic levels of total, free, and ester cholesterol (-15,-12,-17%, respectively). In conclusion, oleuropein, which is the phenolic compounds in olive leaf extract, had been showed to be a potent antioxidant and prevention of atherosclerosis.
