This study examines the health management behaviors of firefighters as essential strategies for maintaining effective performance in high-risk and high-pressure work environments. Firefighters face multiple occupational challenges, including physical workload, fireground response, environmental adaptation, interpersonal relationships, and job satisfaction, all of which require strong adaptability. The motivation for adopting health management practices originates from various factors such as self-protection, task demands, risk awareness, organizational support, and encouragement from peers and family. These practices are crucial for extending career longevity, enhancing response capabilities, and reducing occupational risks.
To cope with the extreme demands of firefighting duties, a multifaceted approach to health management is necessary. Key practices include mental health care, physical fitness, nutrition and dietary regulation, injury prevention, emergency care, and post-duty recovery with health data monitoring.
Given the intense physical and psychological stress firefighters experience during disaster response, it is vital to implement structured health management systems. This study explores the physiological and psychological health strategies used by firefighters after emergency operations and provides evidence-based recommendations for improving long-term resilience and operational readiness.
